Design for Manufacture Review and Cost Reduction
Undertook a review of design and manufacturing requirements for a key component of an equipment supplier's product range. The component on the right hand side of the image is the result of the product review process and shows a marked improvement in visual appearance compared to the original component which is shown on the left hand side of the image. In addition, we achieved a 40% increase in load rating for the product, a 25% weight reduction, a cost reduction exceeding 35% and also reduced the number of manufacturing processes from 6 to 3 which has resulted in improved quality and manufacturing repeatability.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Implementation
Project managed the implementation of a new ERP system to replace an existing MYOB system used by a manufacturer of underground mining products. The project included responsibility for the development and execution of the project implementation plan, acting as primary point of contact with the external software provider, review of existing business process requirements, data cleansing and mapping to new system requirements, data uploads and validation, functional testing, development of user documentation, employee education and training and go-live support.
Strategic Sourcing Project
Led a strategic sourcing project that achieved annual savings of $0.9M (12.5%) on $7.3M of machined parts and fabrication commodity spend for a global equipment supplier. The project also resulted in a number of other tangible benefits including reduced supplier lead times, reduced inventory holdings, improved quality, more favourable commercial trading terms with key suppliers and a rationalisation and reduction in the number of suppliers used.
Inventory Reduction Initiative
Developed and led an inventory reduction programme for a global mining equipment supplier that addressed inventory increases previously running at $12.0M (25% of inventory holding value) per year and subsequently reduced inventory holdings by $9.0M (15% of inventory holding).
Inventory Management Process Implementation
Developed and implemented an inventory management process that increased inventory turns from 1.0x to 4.5x for an under-performing product division which resulted in a significant reduction in working capital requirements, reduced manufacturing lead times, reduced obsolescence risk, improved delivery performance and improved customer service levels.
Facilitated a strategy development and planning workshop with key stakeholders of a local equipment manufacturer that resulted in the creation of a strategic plan for the business. The strategy development workshop included a review of the company's existing organisational capability, an analysis of the company's target market and competitors, development of a Vision and Mission Statement that underpinned the business strategy and resulted in a documented business strategy and the development of key performance indicators and measures to communicate and translate the strategy throughout the organisation.

Developed and implemented a balanced scorecard performance measurement framework to communicate and align department and individual goals with the company’s strategic plans and business objectives
LEAN Warehouse Design Project
Responsibility for the design and implementation a new warehouse facility and associated warehouse processes incorporating LEAN concepts to consolidate 3 separate warehouse facilities totalling 2,400m2 into one 1,260m2 facility (50% reduction in floor space). The warehouse design also improved functional flows within the warehouse that led to improvements in goods receipting, packing, picking and despatch times as well as improved inventory accuracy and reduced loss and damage to inventory components.
Preparation for Business Sale and Due Diligence Requirements
Assisted a private company become "acquisition ready" in preparation for M&A discussions and negotiations with potential buyers. Assisted with restructuring of the business and addressing system and financial reporting deficiencies that ultimately helped increase the attractiveness of the business and resulted in an increased valuation for the business upon sale. Responsible for the establishment of the data room and overall management of the "seller side" due diligence process, including primary point of contact with the purchasers due diligence team, which led to the success sale of the business to a publicly listed UK purchaser.

Developed and implemented a business strategy for a maintenance service provider to address poor profitability and labour utilisation as well as business risks associated with the existing business model and customer base, resulting in a $1.0M profit improvement in the year following implementation.
